A territorial dispute! These two creatures are about to engage in a battle for supremacy over a specific ecological niche. Who will win?

Note: Crocodiles are of course 'real' animals; the CreekSerpent is made up by me and is basically the same as a SeaSerpent, only smaller and living in freshwater.

I'm quite happy with how this painting turned out, especially the croc...he looks scaly yet soft at the same time (not that real crocodiles are soft, but I still like the way it looks). :)

Acrylic on matboard, 8 by 10 inches, 2005.

*first comment dance* Oh no! It was a mod's choice, and now after the crash the little star is gone... 8
Well, the star is gone but the picture is here and the picture is really beautiful, so masterfully drawn, and the choice of colors is great, very "natural"... Yeah. I love it!2

:-) Sara Melissa Bean replies: "Thank you! 2
I did save the mod's choice email from the original upload, so maybe I can get the star back...but even if not, this one of my own favorite paintings, so I'm happy with it either way. "

I love the velvety look of the croc. The water is good too!

Once holding a toddler (about 2 yr old) alligator in my hands, I can tell you its tummy was quite soft. Wouldn't want to meet your croc though, it looks fierce!
Great pic by the way.

:-) Sara Melissa Bean replies: "That's interesting to know...thank you! "

Hi again Sara, you know I was just about to comment, and then I read your own thoughts on this painting, and it's exactly what I was going to say about it.
The painting has a 'soft' look about it which I find appealing too, especially the 'croc'(and grass), the texture/color on the crocodile has a watercolour look about it.
Good job, oh and congratulations on 'mod's choice' as well.

:-) Sara Melissa Bean replies: "Hi again, Victor, and thanks! 1
You've really been making up for lost time in my gallery here; I hope soon you'll update yours so I can return the favor! "

It looks more like an alligator than a crocodile. Sorry, but I just learned the difference between the two and am very proud.

:-) Sara Melissa Bean replies: "Well golly gee, and I even looked at photos of crocodiles for reference."
3 Nov 200845 A friendly suggestion!
hi! i love our work!
but i have a suggesion for this one :] (personally, i luv it when people give me suggestions)
i’m not sure, but i dont think crocs have cheeks. I belive nothing covers their teeth to teh very end of the jaw. Over all though: fantastic!! lov your fantasy creatures. they inspire me.

:-) Sara Melissa Bean replies: "Thanks, but I don’t change paintings once they’ve been completed (especially not once they’ve been completed for a couple of years)"
